Pharm. Mrs. Ogbeide Edosa (FPSN)

Director: Registration and Regulatory Affairs Directorate, National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC).

A Pharmacist graduate from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), she is a fellow of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria and an expert in the Regulatory space.

Joined the Food and Drug Services of the Federal Ministry of Health in 1989 as a pharmacist (Grade l pharmacist) then moved over to NAFDAC (a parastatal of FMOH) as pioneer staff in 2002. She has devoted 34 years to civil service and over the years through hard work, dedication, and commitment to duty risen through the ranks to her current position as a director. With experience of working in almost all the technical directorates and serving in various capacities, Pharm. Ogbeide has contributed immensely to the existing regulatory framework of NAFDAC.

She is an expert in policy formation on controlled medicines and served as an expert in the development of “Pain management guidelines for Nigeria”. She was the NAFDAC Lead Inspector liaising with WHO to certify companies in Nigeria intending to participate in the WHO GMP pre-qualification program for antimalarial medicines.

On promotion to Director in 2018, she has headed Veterinary Medicine and Allied Products Directorate, Lagos State Office on MSME’s (as Pioneer Director), Narcotics and Controlled Substances Directorate, and currently, the Registration and Regulatory Affairs Directorate. Pharm. Ogbeide was the first recipient of the Director General’s special award in 2011 for the most hardworking staff and several letters of commendation for dedication and collective effort in ensuring zero tolerance to counterfeiting of NAFDAC regulated products, and in 2022, she won the DG special award for outstanding performance.

2. WHO and NAFDAC Training Workshop on Selected GMP Concepts and Corrective Action & Preventive Action in 2012,
3. Training workshop on current Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) conducted by the Basic Drug School USFDA in Philadelphia Pennsylvania, USA between 17th – 28th August 2009,
4. The regulatory requirements for registration of Artemisinin based Combined Medicine and assessment of date organized by WHO between 3 -7 November 2008, Accra, Ghana, amongst others.

It is worthy to note that she also represented Nigeria at the 2018 United Nations Commission on Narcotic Drugs and was the focal person for the National Drug Control Master Plan (NDCMP) 2015 to 2019.

Pharm. Mrs. Ogbeide is a contributing writer to the NAFDAC consumer safety bulletin, and a member of several expert committees of the agency where she brings to bear, her wealth of knowledge, experiences, and innovative ideas.

She is married to Pastor Isaac Ogbeide, a Chartered Accountant and they are blessed with three lovely Children.
